we, too, have visited this resort. for the money, it is no bargain. the meals were xcellent, true, but the rooms were very very small, there was no air conditioning in august when we were there, & when u looked very closely at the woodwork and general decor, seediness reigned. the place is pretty, but the lake is very cold. it was a lovely wkend, but we would not return. it is just too xpensive for what u get.
Isn't it a wonderful place! I have been there on several occasions when I've been out from California and I'm always amazed at the beauty. During the summer, they have a lot of activities for the whole family and on the fourth of July they have such a show that it takes your breath away. I can't wait to go back. Paula
Mohonk is our family's most favorite place to go. Our family has actually been going more than 70 years. My kids have gone since they were born, I went many times as a child and my mom started going as a baby so we really know Mohonk. We all have our own secret places there that we love. My kids can have some freedom there. If you asked any of my 3 kids where they would like to go for vacation, (even to live) they would say Mohonk. They shop all year for clothes for Mohonk. We love it and hope to go for 70 more years.
Thank You for having this site. I love New Paltz and Mohonk Mountain. I try to climb the mountain every time I get a chance.
Dear Writers of the New years Eve at Mohonk.
Good story. Being avid lovers of the Mountain House and it's sister area, lake Minnewaska, Marj and I enjoyed the pictures and the brief story. The spring time is quite a treat as well.
Thanks, Charlie and Marj Johnson
-- We had the great pleasure of spending a whole week-end at Mohonk Mountain House a few years ago. What a wonderful, beautiful, unique place to be. Surreal in it's beauty! We have not stayed there since(but certainly want to in the future!), but we live close enough that we've many times gone back for the day to hike and have lunch. We've never gone without completing the strenuous, challenging and exhiliratingly scary boulder scramble with the infamous "lemon squeeze" as the grand finale. O.K. it's nothing to seasoned rock climbers and boulderers but for us reasonably fit and adventurous regular folks it's an exciting hike and the views are well worth the nervous moments! Try it!!! We love Mohonk, have many happy memories there and look forward to coming again and again!
Thanks for the memories! I was at Mohonk for 4 days in early May '96 and loved every minute of it. It is most unusual, and obviously not to everyone's liking, so it still surprises me when I mention "Mohonk" in conversation and someone within earshot starts to exclaim about "their" time there. My desire is to experience it each season. Having been there only in spring, I have much to look forward to.
