SWAPPING STORIES
... this is a Web site for exchanging tips rather than booking. According to the "welcome" screen, the accounts are by people who travel with laptop computers and send the stories into the Internet through local phone lines, at "cybercafes" or even via satellite. When I peeked in, there were 18 "strange but true travel stories" -- adventures and misadventures in Bulgaria, Warsaw, Bolivia, Paris, Russia and elsewhere. The account by a man returning from his honeymoon from the airport in Sofia, Bulgaria -- overcrowded airport, overbooked flight, unruly crowds -- might turn you into a dedicated armchair traveler. But if you, too, had a memorable experience in Sofia, you are welcome to add your comments.
